About Homer’s The Odyssey
The Odyssey is one of the oldest surviving pieces of literature, and a story that continues to capture imaginations thousands of years later. It tells the epic tale of Odysseus, king of Ithaca, and his decade-long journey home after the Trojan War. His crew encounters many perils, until Odysseus is the only one left alive. Meanwhile, he is presumed dead in Ithaca, where his wife and queen, Penelope, contends with unworthy suitors vying for her hand in marriage, and with it Odysseus’ kingdom. The epic also follows Odysseus’s son, Telemachus, and his own journey to search for his father.
